Theory Analysis in Data Evaluation

The second part, theory analysis, is the process of interpreting your data. You can use a variety analysis methods to understand the significance of the data you’ve taken in, including qualitative and quality techniques.

Depending on the type of analysis you are conducting You may wish to find repeating themes and patterns within your data or look for connections between various items. The process of analysis involves sorting, coding and comparing your data to existing theories and concepts. It also includes making sense of what you are discovering through your data.

When conducting a qualitative analysis of participants in a particular program, for example using a grounded theory to guide your analysis and help create a theoretical construct of your data. GT is a research technique that lets you discover theory analysis in data evaluation theories through constant interaction between data collection and analysis. The GT process is based on open codes, which are used to uncover interesting patterns within the data. Axial coding is a method of identifying the relationships between phenomena and selective coding to bring the emerging ideas together.

The fundamental category is an amalgamation of all the emerging phenomena. It could be an individual concept or a set of related concepts. The selected concept is compared to a theoretical concept and the fit is assessed by comparing the various incidents to the conceptual. Memories are used to reflect and document the emerging concepts during this stage.
